Binary number system

  • The number system with base 2 is known as binary number system.
  • Two symbols/digit are used in it 0 and 1, which we called bits.
  • Binary number system is positional number system, i.e. every position in a number has assigned some weight.
  • Group of four bits is known as nibble and group of 8 bits is  known as byte.

  • Left most bit is known as Most Significant Bit (MSB) and right most is Least significant bit(LSB).

  • In any number, zero can be added to left most side of the number ,which does not effects it value.
